Tattoo After Care

I've been tattooing and getting tattoos for many a year now. I have tried many different methods for healing tattoos. The method that i have had the most success with is the one that James Tex and Steve Peace turned me on to. Leave bandage on for 2-3 hours. The next day soak in hot water for about 10 minutes (take a shower and feel free to gently rub away the built up goop). This process removes the plasma buildup. The plasma will cause increased scabbing which will prevent air from reaching your tattoo. David Vidra of Health Educators says"Air Is your Friend". Any wound needs air to heal. Its when we coat the tattoo with cream that it prevents the tattoo from getting the air that it needs to heal in the fastest amount of time. The more cream the slower the healing process. Vaseline based products such as Polysporin while they are good because they have healing agents, they defeat their purpose by blocking air from reaching the surface of the skin. Vaseline based products also have a tendency of keeping it too moist which will over moisten your skin, pushing out the ink you just paid so much $ for. Remember you may have to pay for a touch up.

What James recommends is that after you soak your tattoo, let dry for 2 weeks before applying any cream whatsoever.  The only purpose to apply any cream is to prevent cracking that would cause bleeding.

Enjoy your new tatto0, it speaks to you, remember that always.
